This year we presented Lesley Arroyo with our premiere Living Our Legacy Award. Lesley’s work in the CHAT department makes her an exceptional example of how our Living Legacies help promote the mission and vision of the Angel Harvey Family Health Center.
Lesley is a sophomore at Dominican University on the psychology track, aspiring to be a speech pathologist. She and her family are also IWS patients. She became interested in speech pathology as a career option because of her experiences volunteering in the Child-centering Health & Advanced Therapies (CHAT) program and assisting in the social skills group for children with special needs.
Lesley says,
“It always makes my day to see a child realize how he/she is improving during therapy as well seeing how they are using their communication and compassion skills with other children. CHAT has been such a great learning experience.
I hope I will be able to use all the skills I have learned to help children in the future.”
